Product Design & User Experience

ZEOS is part of Zalando, leveraging the company’s infrastructure, technology, and expertise to build an operating system for fashion & lifestyle. Established in 2023, ZEOS is developing tools that allow brands and retailers to manage their multi-channel business in one place. We aim to enable seamless e-commerce across Europe: from new market entry and expansion to optimization and business steering. The first ZEOS product is called ZEOS Fulfilment, and it gives brands and retailers the ability to fulfil their multi-channel sales using one stock pool, one carrier integration, and one user interface. Being a small unit within a big company enables us to act fast, but with the backup from one of the leading online platforms for fashion and lifestyle in Europe.

Over the last years, we learned at Zalando that solving fulfilment related challenges for the good of our merchants helps us to fuel the growth of our platform.

Strengthened by this successful growth, we have started the next step in our journey - expanding our business outside of the Zalando ecosystem, exploring both physical and digital services.   Zalando launched the ZEOS brand last year (short for Zalando E-commerce Operating System), aiming to build an operating system for the fashion and lifestyle industry that enables brands and retailers to manage their multi-channel business across Europe within one unified platform.

As a Principal Product Designer in the ZEOS Design & Research team,  you will be responsible for customer-facing digital experiences for our ZEOS Logistics service offerings.  Your joint mission is to empower fashion and lifestyle brands to expand their business and increase their profitability across multiple marketplaces and countries throughout Europe through ZEOS.

Using your excellent craft skills and seasoned experience, you will design 0 to 1 experiences that empower brands and retailers to steer their multi-channel logistics for their business from our ZEOS digital touchpoints.  This is an important role that will help shape the vision for the user experiences for ZEOS, and requires strong foundational UX skills, exceptional stakeholder management, experience in workshop facilitation, and in crafting and evangelising design strategies and visions.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

  • You would work with cross-functional teams (product managers, product researchers, fellow designers, & developers) to drive the design vision and strategy for our new multichannel offering that will deliver the best possible experience for both our merchants and their end customers.

  • You’ll lead the design of complex customer journeys that cut across multiple pillars, services and teams.

  • You’ll help lead stakeholders and team members towards innovative and engaging solutions by conducting design thinking workshops and design sprints that leverage user research.

  • You’ll apply strategic thinking to visualise ideas and concepts and communicate them effectively and compellingly for internal stakeholders, partners and customers

  • You’ll work to validate and refine concepts with internal and external stakeholders including actual merchants and end users

  • You’ll lead by example by producing high-quality work no matter how big or small the task may be.

  • You’ll foster design excellence by helping to set the bar for design quality through your own work, and will mentor fellow designers via rituals such as critiques and office hours.

WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF

  • Experience: You are a seasoned design professional with B2B experience that has led the design for complex projects which have delivered valuable end-to-end experiences to your users. You aren’t afraid of ambiguity and you are inspired to dive deep and solve complex and meaningful problems that resonate with customers and their end users. You are adept at bringing various threads together into a unified design strategy that can be understood and executed on by product teams.

  • Collaboration: You work collaboratively with product managers, engineers, stakeholders and users to understand and define the key problems and desired experiences for solutions, owning the design thread from discovery through delivery.

  • Curiosity: You are curious about the industry in which you work and the needs of your customers, which allows you to creatively solve their problems.

  • Craft: You possess expert knowledge in the end-to-end product design process, demonstrating a command of product and design strategy, distillation of problem statements, user needs, journey mapping, wireframing, prototyping, user testing, and the creation of high fidelity visuals. You know how to bring everything together in the form of useful solutions and usable and delightful interactions for our users.

  • Experimentation: You have a generative approach, strive to solve problems in the best way possible through iteration, leveraging data and insights to drive future iterations and features.

  • Delivery: You scope and define deliverables and ensure developers have everything they need to build the designed solution. You ensure a remarkable quality of what goes live.

  • Empathy: You have the mindset and methodologies to understand your customers, colleagues and employees.

  • Storytelling: You bring not just users but also stakeholders and employees on a journey, enabling them to truly understand the end customer and vision and experience you are setting out to deliver, and the ‘why’ behind your design decisions.
