THE ROLE & THE TEAM
As a Principal Product Manager at Zalando Payments GmbH, your role centers around leading and shaping our payment method integration and processing platform. You will be responsible for managing and improving our diverse payment method portfolio, improving existing internal and external payment products as well as integrating or designing new payment products based on local customer needs and in close collaboration with the Zalando Platform and Markets Teams. You are optimizing for conversion and the highest possible authorization and processing success, while keeping costs of payments in balance. Together with your team of 3 Product Managers you are responsible for creating the most relevant and preferred payment method portfolio for our customers in Europe .

WHAT WE'D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)
- Strategy Development: Develop a comprehensive product strategy aligned with our business goals and objectives. Identify opportunities to improve our existing integration and processing landscape, offer locally relevant and convenient payment options which increase conversion rates and drive customer retention and lifetime value.
- Product Roadmap: Enable your team to create and maintain a product roadmap that outlines the prioritized features, enhancements, and initiatives for the respective product area. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather requirements, conduct market research, and define product specifications.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with Zalando Platform and local Market teams to understand their needs and requirements related to payment method offering and processing. Collaborate effectively to ensure alignment, obtain buy-in, and drive successful implementation of product initiatives. Engage with product managers from various departments within the organization, influencing their roadmaps to achieve collective success.
- Product Development: Lead the end-to-end product development lifecycle, from discovery to Execution, including defining problems, sizing the opportunity, Identifying the best solution, coordinating product design and development efforts, supporting user testing, and ensuring successful product delivery.
- Performance Analysis: Continuously monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to the processing of all transactions via our services together with your team. Use data-driven insights to identify areas for improvement, drive product optimizations, and report on the effectiveness of implemented strategies.
- Leadership: Enable your team of 3 Product Managers to define, design and deliver customer focussed and impactful products and features. Set the overall vision and direction for the domain while enabling them to develop and grow in their roles.
- Stakeholder Communication: Regularly communicate updates, progress, and outcomes to key stakeholders, including executives from Zalando Group and Zalando Payments, department heads, and cross-functional teams. Present findings, recommendations, and business cases to gain support and secure necessary resources for product initiatives. Manage external payment partners and be involved in negotiations and contract alignments.
WE'D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF...
Several years of Product Management experience, leading the development of several products, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders in the domain of Payments or Fintech, ideally experience in leading other Product Managers
Natural problem-solver, with a strong history of leading product discovery, solving meaningful customer and business problems, and delivering scalable solutions.
Experience working in complex technology environments, defining technical platform requirements and managing wider migration efforts
Ability to create a strong product vision and translate that vision for any audience, through well-crafted strategic documents, thorough requirements, and clear communication with stakeholders
An analytical mind, with the expertise to evaluate data, and draw insights to make informed product decisions by defining success criteria and measuring the impact of the product.
Interest in Payments industry trends and developments, experience working with Payment partners and service providers in Europe.
